Amazon launches new Echo devices featuring smarter Alexa capabilities and home cameras

On Wednesday, Amazon unveiled a new lineup of Alexa-enabled smart devices, featuring upgrades to its Echo speakers, smart displays, and home accessories. The latest collection includes a new Echo Dot with a built-in smart home hub, an Echo Studio equipped with a camera, a bedside smart alarm clock with sleep-sensing capabilities, and an Alexa-powered smart photo frame. Additionally, Amazon introduced a redesigned Echo Show 16, which boasts a larger display, an improved camera, and integrated Fire TV.

Pricing and Availability for Amazon Alexa Devices
The new-generation Echo Dot is priced at $99.99 (approximately 9,500 rupees). The Echo Studio is priced at $219.99 (approximately 21,000 rupees), while the version of the Echo Studio that includes a camera is priced at $249.99 (approximately 23,800 rupees). The smart alarm clock starts at $199.99 (approximately 19,000 rupees), and the Amazon Kids version is priced at $209.99 (approximately 20,000 rupees), which includes a one-year Amazon Kids+ membership.

Amazon has also announced an Alexa-enabled picture frame, though pricing and release date details have yet to be revealed. The new Echo Show 16 is now available for pre-order, starting at $499.99, with a “Nanomatte” version priced at $569.99.

Next-Generation Amazon Echo Dot
Amazon describes the new-generation Echo Dot as a compact smart speaker featuring enhanced smart home and networking capabilities. It includes a built-in smart home hub, allowing Alexa to connect to thousands of compatible devices—such as lights, door locks, and thermostats—without the need for a separate hub. Additionally, the device integrates an eero Wi-Fi extender, which Amazon claims can expand the coverage of an existing network by up to 1,000 square feet.

The new Echo Dot is powered by Amazon’s custom AZ3 chip, which includes an AI accelerator for on-device AI processing. According to Amazon, this improves speech recognition accuracy and helps filter out background noise. The speaker also delivers clearer vocals and offers 50% better bass performance compared to the previous generation.

Amazon is also offering two versions designed for children, which include a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids+.

Amazon Echo Studio with Home Camera
Amazon has introduced a new Echo Studio that combines a high-end smart speaker with a home camera, adding “visual intelligence” to Alexa’s capabilities. The speaker retains its high-excursion woofer and support for Dolby Atmos, providing an immersive spatial audio experience. It also features advanced room-adaptation technology, which continuously adjusts the audio based on the surrounding environment.

Cameras allow Alexa to better understand a user’s surroundings. For example, users can show Alexa a board game box to get instructions on the rules, or point the camera at a cereal box to help reorder the product. Additionally, users can check on a room while away from home via the Alexa app.

Amazon stated that users will soon be able to pair an Echo Studio with home cameras and compatible Fire TV devices, enabling video calls on their televisions.

Amazon Echo Time Smart Clock
Echo Time is a smart bedside alarm clock featuring a customizable display and a camera-free design. It offers hundreds of clock face options—ranging from traditional analog layouts and modern designs to weather-themed displays. According to Amazon, the device is designed to help users manage their sleep and morning routines without the need for a smartwatch or fitness tracker.

Equipped with sleep-sensing technology powered by Omnisense, the device can detect when a user is in a lighter stage of sleep and adjust the wake-up time to a point within 10 to 60 minutes of the scheduled alarm. As the alarm time approaches, the display gradually brightens to simulate a sunrise, while the alarm sound also intensifies progressively.

Amazon Alexa Photo Frame
This Alexa-enabled photo frame combines a traditional digital photo frame with Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa. It features a 10-inch anti-glare touchscreen and automatically syncs with your Amazon Photos library, ensuring that new photos added to your collection appear on the frame instantly.

According to Amazon, the frame uses Alexa to surface relevant images—such as photos of people smiling or seasonal snapshots—while filtering out screenshots and other unwanted clutter. Users can also ask Alexa to display photos of specific people, pets, or trips, or simply browse through their images directly on the touchscreen.

Amazon Echo Show 16
Amazon’s latest smart display, the Echo Show 16, boasts a 16-inch HD screen. The company states that the device offers 20% more processing power for faster interactions, features a design that is nearly 40% thinner, and provides 10% more viewing area than the previous generation. An all-new “Nanomatte” screen option is designed to reduce glare by over 90% while preserving image detail and color accuracy.

The display serves as a household management hub, offering color-coded calendars, chore tracking, and meal planning; it can also function as a digital photo frame or a smart home control panel. Additionally, it introduces the “Alexa Home Map” feature, which displays the locations of connected devices—such as lights, door locks, thermostats, and cameras—throughout the home. The device also includes full Fire TV functionality, allowing users to stream content from supported services.

Amazon notes that the Echo Show 16 is equipped with the best camera ever featured on an Echo Show device. It includes a wide-angle field of view, an “auto-framing” feature that keeps subjects centered in the shot, and night vision capabilities for viewing live feeds after dark.
